This is a bridge that crosses the Arno River. On each side, you’ll find the Ponte Santa Trinita and the Ponte alle Grazie. But Ponte Vecchio isn’t just any old ordinary bridge. It’s also home to some pretty old jewelry shops. So if you have some change to throw, you can check out what they have to offer. I didn’t go into any of the stores so I’m not sure what the price ranges were. But just by looking in the window, the cheapest thing I saw was a bracelet for 300 Euros. At nighttime, it gets livelier. People bustling to get a prime viewing spot of the sunset, musicians setting up their mics to get ready to put on a show, couples looking for that perfect place on the fence to latch their padlocks on forever (though I would be careful with this last one because I read that if you’re caught doing this, you could be fined 160 Euros). Since no cars are allowed on this bridge, it’s the perfect place to take a casual evening stroll (gelato in hand, of course).
