The flight from NYC to DUB is about 7 hours. We landed around 8 a.m. local time. Since we knew we would be jetlagged, we didn’t plan anything too crazy for that day. We decided to just walk around and explore the city, and we also had a chocolate tour that we booked ahead of time.
As of March 2013, each ’Butler’s Chocolate Experience’ ticket costs 12.20 Euros (or $14.49 USD). This includes entry to the chocolate museum (which gives you a brief history and trivia of chocolate) tour of the factory (with plenty of chocolate samples along the way), and decorating your own seasonal chocolate item. We decorated shamrocks since it was around St. Paddy’s.
FYI – there is no chocolate production on weekends so we didn’t get to see chocolate actually being made – we were just shown a video. So if that’s your main point of going, try a weekday.
Greening the city – is a St. Patrick’s Day celebration lasting a couple of days, where several buildings use green light to illuminate the exterior. It doesn’t sound like anything spectacular, but when you’re actually in Dublin, it’s pretty cool to see random buildings get into the holiday spirit!
