Sorrento is a small town along the Amalfi coast. There isn’t much to do there but we used it as a jumping point to explore other towns on the coast. Hotels and restaurants are significantly cheaper than hot spots like Amalfi, Positano, and Capri. But Sorrento is close enough to those towns to take a short ferry ride over for a day trip
1. Go island hopping.
As I mentioned, hotels here are much cheaper, which was a major selling point for us. We had three full days on the coast, so we stayed in Sorrento and took the ferry for day trips over to Positano and Capri, each about 30 minutes away

2. Catch the sunset at Villa Comunale di Sorrento.
It’s a park with a view of the Gulf of Naples, Mount Vesuvius, and the islands Ischia, and Procida

3. Sunbathe at Marina Grande.
Given that it was early April when we visited, it was still a little too cold for us but that didn’t stop some other people from laying out. They’re all beach clubs so you’ll have to pay a fee. And I use the term, “beach” loosely – it’s more like a pier. It’s a bit of a trek to walk down but it’s the walk back up that’s rough. There’s also an elevator available but you have to pay a fee

4. Go shopping at Corso Italia.
It’s a lively pedestrian street with lots of shops, and cafes. Don’t forget to check out all of the little side alleyways. That’s where all of the souvenir shops are at, and you’ll also find some cute restaurants

5. Check out Piazzo Tasso.
It’s the main square of Sorrento, and where Corso Italia starts
