you wouldn’t be a true tourist if you didn’t visit bondi beach

While my family and friends back home in NYC were busy digging their cars out from under mounds of snow, I was busy digging my feet into mounds of sand. I was laying on a beach somewhere in the southern hemisphere. Bondi Beach, to be exact. (which by the way, is pronounced ‘bond-eye’.)

If you don’t have a car, nor do you feel like walking an hour and a half, there are plenty of buses that go to Bondi. If you’re coming from the Chinatown area, the closest bus is 333 or 380 by Liverpool Street and Elizabeth Street. It’ll cost about $2.50 each way on your opal card. The ride is about 40 minutes but it isn’t too bad. There’s lots to see along the way.

I don’t know if it was just the day that we went, since it was slightly windy at times, but the waves were kind of rough. Maybe it’s better for surfing than it is swimming. Or if you’re like me and you’re too scared to learn how to surf, you can always just watch the surfers try to catch that perfect wave. If you get tired of that, you can go fuel your shopping addiction with plenty of souvenir shops nearby. When all else fails, just sit back and enjoy that Australian sun.

One thing I regret not seeing is a sunrise on Bondi. There’s always next time!
